Bob Pierzak Piano

Bob Pierzak is a doctoral candidate in music composition at the University of California San Diego with over ten years of piano-teaching experience. He enjoys working musically with children of all ages, and has also extensively worked with them through heading tennis camps.

Bob received the 2003 BMI Student Composition Award, along with the Carlos Surinach Prize for being the youngest recipient that year. He received his Bachelors in Music from Ithaca College and his Masters from the Eastman School of Music, where he frequently performed 20th and 21st century chamber repertoire either as pianist or conductor.

Bob’s approach to piano lessons grounds the student in musical fundamentals and piano technique by combining ear training, note reading, composition and performance exercises along with repertoire. Bob’s lessons also stress the individuality of the student, particularly exploring what about music makes the student most excited. He is well-versed in teaching classical and pop styles on the keyboard.
