Based on feedback from the local community, Villa Musica opened a community music program at the Logan Heights Library in the fall of 2014. All classes are divided into 10 week sessions and are on a flexible tiered donation program.

“Many of the participants in this program have specifically requested the opportunity to take lessons in their community, and Villa Musica has reached out to answer the community’s call. With help from the library’s Director, Eileen Labrador, we were able to conduct a survey through the library to truly gauge the interest of the community and have tailored this program specifically to their needs.”

With support from the Commission for Arts and Culture and the office of Council Member, David Alvarez, Villa Musica launched this program.

“After school music programs are almost non-existent in my district. By expanding to schools and libraries in these communities, many children (and adults) will benefit from Villa Musica’s work,” said an appreciative councilman, David Alvarez, of District 8.
