Elly Roseberry, mezzo soprano, began her extensive education and music career in northern California, then obtained educational degrees in Vocal Performance from Grace School of Music, Indiana (2010) and San Diego State University-School of Music (2015). Most notable stage roles have included Princess Winnifred in Once Upon a Mattress, Little Red in Into the Woods, Mother in Amahl & the Night Visitors, and Madame Baba in The Medium. Recent sacred solo works include Missa in Angustiis (Nelson Mass by Haydn), Oratorio de Noel (Saint-Saens), and Ein Deutsches Requiem (Brahms’ Requiem) with Village Church Chancel Choir, accompanied by select members of San Diego Symphony Orchestra. Elly has appeared twice as featured soloist with the San Diego Symphony in Copley Hall (2015, 2016).
Since coming to San Diego in 2010, Elly has become an integral part of the choral and teaching community as a prolific business developer, singer, and vocal coach. Her most notable involvement has been with local ensemble SACRA/PROFANA as core singer, operations manager, and educator through school outreach. Elly is part of SACRA/PROFANA’s EDU team sent to specific school choirs in SDHSU districts to coach good choral technique and behavior to middle- and high-school musicians. Since its inception four years ago, Elly has been vocal coach for SCI, a week-long summer choral intensive for high school students. Elly recently made her conducting debut in 2017 as interim conductor for North Coast Singers’ intermediate treble choir. Elly currently resides as soloist and alto Section Leader for Village Community Presbyterian Church, and Voice Instructor with Villa Musica.
