Villa Musica makes music accessible through education, performance, and community engagement.

Founded as a 501(c)3 non-profit corporation in November 2005, Villa Musica is a vibrant gathering place where people of all ages and backgrounds can come together to take music lessons, play in an ensemble, or participate in a workshop. Villa Musica’s goal is to create a focal point for community music education in San Diego, where students and teachers can meet to exchange ideas and experience the joy of making music. By creating a supportive and creative environment for the study of music, we aim to inspire many San Diegans to make music making part of their lives.

Job Description:

The Communications Coordinator at Villa Musica will be an integral part of the admin team working in these four essential areas. This job is 1-day in the office, with the rest of the work being remote, with occasional in-person evening and weekend event support.

  • Assistance with Social Media, Marketing, and Design
  • Assistance with Website Maintenance
  • Assistance with Communication and CRM Management
  • Event Support

In collaboration with the rest of the Admin Team and with the direction of the Director of Communications and Messaging, the Communications Coordinator’s duties will include:

Social Media, Marketing, and Design (50%):

  • Help to develop campaign schedules for multiple social media platforms as well as social media content
  • Help to create content that is relevant to the current and potential student, donor, and stakeholder base
  • Analyze and report on network activity and engagement to optimize campaign content
  • Assist in building Villa Musica’s archives with digital images, videos, and other media
  • Continuously rotate new images into the TV display in our main lobby
  • Create and update event pages on Facebook, Eventbrite, etc
  • Generate graphics and promotional fliers for programs and events under the direction of the Villa Musica Graphic Designer

Website Maintenance (25%):

  • Maintain calendar of events and products on our website
  • Create pages for new “products” and registration forms
  • Update information on pages for classes and programs
  • Rotate in fresh pictures/banners on website

Communication and CRM Management (15%):

  • Put together monthly newsletters: Public, board, and faculty
  • Utilize HubSpot to design emails and track participation
  • Maintain Villa Musica’s Blog
  • Strategize to improve Villa Musica’s brand/image
  • Monitor photo/media permissions of participants

Event Support (10%):

  • Attend concerts and fundraisers as support staff
  • Take pictures/videos
  • Set up space with chairs/tables/ materials
  • Collect donations, check tickets, and sell concessions

Position Requirements:

  • Capacity to accomplish all facets of the job description during allocated working hours is essential
  • Familiarity with mainstream social media such as Facebook, Instagram, and X etc.
  • Passionate, detail-oriented, self-starter
  • Pleasant manner and strong communication skills
  • Strong writing, photography, videography and editing skills required
  • Demonstrates strong storytelling abilities
  • Demonstrates working knowledge of basic photo editing software
  • Working knowledge of computers/data entry (Quickbooks, Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Canva, WordPress) and tasking software (Monday.com) or willingness to learn
  • Must be available to work nights and weekends as needed, including Sunday afternoons from 12pm-5pm. No holidays required.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle

Additional Positive Attributes:

  • Spanish language skills are desirable but not required
  • This is a part-time position (15-20 hours a week)
  • Hourly rate range of $18-$22 per hour commensurate with experience
