Irina Telyukova is an economist, yoga teacher, and a lifelong classical pianist and choral singer. A former UCSD professor of economics with a research concentration in household finance, Irina now heads the Analytics and Data Science group at Mulligan Funding, a San Diego-based provider of lending to small businesses. Irina also teaches meditation and yoga for healing.
Irina started playing piano at age 5 and graduated from a pre-conservatory music school in her native Moscow at age 13. She remained an active concert pianist, as well as a choral singer, in high school and college. After college, Irina sang with the Russian Chamber Chorus of New York, recording and performing at venues such as Carnegie Hall. In 2006, Irina moved to San Diego and became part of a chamber music trio which, by serendipitous association with the then year-old organization, became known as the Villa Musica Piano Trio.
Irina is very excited to serve on the Board of Villa Musica, as she firmly believes that her own childhood experience with music shaped her life in a myriad positive ways, and that every child and adult should have ready access to quality music education.
