Shayla James is a violist and pianist. She balances her time as a teacher, performer, and music researcher. She has established an energetic piano and string studio in the San Diego area, with students of various ages and musical backgrounds. Her teaching method is flexible and designed to meet the creative needs of both private students and students in larger classroom settings. Her teaching and performance repertoire includes classical, orchestral and chamber, contemporary, and popular styles. In 2013, she received a Bachelor of Music degree in Piano Performance and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from Coe College in Cedar Rapids, IA. She earned a Master of Arts in Music with an emphasis in Integrative Studies at the University of California, San Diego (2016).
