Luis Dorame – Violin

Description

Growing up in the inner-city community of City Heights, Luis knew that he wanted to give back to his community through music. After becoming a tutor to his peers, he fell in love with the idea of teaching music to others. He became a force of motivation, and passion, and proved that with hard work, dedication, and perseverance, anything is possible. Luis understands that music serves as an outlet for students, and makes sure every student he meets feels confident, motivated, and supported to perform at their best to find their voice and to channel their emotions.

Luis has studied with Dr. Marta Z. Blalock and currently studies with Isaac Allen at San Diego State University. He has served as associate concertmaster in the SDSU orchestras, and served as concertmaster for SDSU’s performances of ‘La Verbena de la Paloma’. He has performed with the La Jolla Symphony, the San Diego Philharmonic, and the Pacific Lyric Association. Luis is currently working towards a double major in violin performance and music education and hopes to bridge communities together through the power of music.
