Description
Bram Goldstein, founding member of the internationally acclaimed Hausmann Quartet, was born and raised in Montreal, where he began his early studies with Eleonora Turovsky. Mr. Goldstein is a top prizewinner in the Canadian Music Competition, and at the age of sixteen won the I Musici de Montreal Violin Competition, which presented him with a scholarship and solo appearance with the orchestra. He continued his studies under the tutelage of Yehonatan Berick at McGill University, and later as a graduate student at the Longy School of Music under Malcolm Lowe and Laura Bossert. As a member of the Hausmann Quartet, Mr. Goldstein is a prizewinner at the Ruttenberg Quartet Competition as well as winner of the Morrison ICA Award. As well, he is a semi-finalist at both the Banff International and Beijing International String Quartet Competitions. Festival appearances include Aspen, Music@Menlo, Great Lakes Chamber Music, Blossom, Norfolk, Montreal Chamber Music, La Jolla Summerfest and the Emerson Quartet International Chamber Music Festival at Stony Brook. Mr. Goldstein has collaborated with such acclaimed artists as Jeremy Denk, James Tocco, Ani Kafavian, Toby Appel, Rivka Golani, Dennis Brott, Terry King, Laura Bossert, The Alexander String Quartet for San Francisco Performances, and in performance art collaboration with legendary rock guitarist, Yngwie Malmsteen. When not playing string quartets or teaching students, Mr. Goldstein enjoys spending time with his wife and two boys, Jonah and Ezra, as well as playing tennis and baking bread. Mr. Goldstein plays on an 1885 William E. Hill violin, originally given as a gift to the royal British family.
