Nicole Olsson – Violin

Description

Teaching is Nicole’s favorite part of the week. She has a personal connection to the El Sistema style of education, growing up in a community model of that ideology as a young musician. Striving to strengthen musical, creative, and community development with all of her students, Nicole makes sure that every student’s goals and preferences are met with understanding. As a recipient of the Alice Saunders Teaching Award, Nicole has studied violin pedagogy with Sherry Kloss at the Jascha Heifetz Symposium, and furthered her violin performance studies with Dr. Pei Chun Tsai at San Diego State University. She has also been the student grant writer for the Campanile Music Festival with Dr. Tsai since 2019.

Nicole is happily at home in a symphony orchestra, and has been given multiple performance opportunities as both a soloist and concertmaster. She enjoys performing in the local classical music scene and can be found near most concerts on either side of the stage; as a performer, administrator, or patron.
