Description
Gaby Villafranca is a local musician specializing in solo gig work with voice and guitar, songwriting, and choral singing. Born and raised in San Diego, her passion for music is rooted in her family and her community. Her academic pursuits led her to Berklee College of Music where, in 2021, she graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelors in songwriting and a minor in recording and production. She spent the following years exploring the US by car, all the while playing music with strangers turned friends. She believes that music is wild, sacred, and intrinsic to all of us, and she puts this philosophy at the heart of all her teaching and music making.
She returned to San Diego to start a family and quickly became reinvolved in the music scene. She currently plays Irish folk music every Friday at a pub and exercises a wide variety of genres, including folk, rock, pop, Latin, and jazz, gigging at parties and special events around town. She sings with the professional choir SACRA/PROFANA and serves as a choral section leader for the Unitarian Universalist Church of San Diego, where she also works in music administration and youth programming. And, though her two sons keep her busy, she finds time to write music and fiction and sometimes even play Minecraft.
