Wesley Fowler – Percussion

Description

Wesley Fowler is a percussionist who seeks to give generously to the community. Specializing in the performance of contemporary music, he is a doctoral student and teaching assistant at the University of California San Diego, studying with Steve Schick. He is a graduate of the Boston Conservatory at Berklee and the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, and teaches classical percussion, piano, drumset, music theory, filmmaking, technical theater production, and more.

Wesley has been featured as a soloist and performer with the Plymouth Philharmonic Orchestra, the Los Angeles Monday Evening Concert Series, The Percussive Arts Society International Convention, and the Big Ear Festival, and has performed alongside other ensembles such as the Bang on A Can All-Stars, Charles River Wind Ensemble, Boston New Music Initiative, Ensemble Knox, and more.

As an educator and administrator, Wesley has served as the Director of Music at Austin Preparatory School in Reading, MA, as the Manager of Performance Technology at Boston Conservatory at Berklee, and as an instructor with private students and community schools. In any position, Wesley believes that there is music to discover all around us, and that careful listening creates empathetic people.
