Visual art showcase by San Diego painter Judith Gross ft. live music, snacks, and drinks
Art has always been an interest of Judith. In high school, she excelled in art, always carrying a completed canvas under arm, likely why she was voted “Most Artistic” in her class! After a brief stint as a studio art major at the University of Pittsburgh, she switched career paths switching to social work, while still maintaining art as a hobby. From calligraphy to clothing-painting, art continued to be a part of Judith’s life. After retiring from La Jolla Country Day School in 2018, Judith began seriously painting again, particularly during COVID.
With time, Judith expanded her palette to the local hardware store, adding the likes of washers, nails, picture hangers, copper rods, etc. to enhance her artwork. You will see such hardware widely utilized in some of her “funky women” paintings. In addition to the aforementioned mixed media approach, Judith has also experimented with pour painting as well as painted photography.
