Alexandra Huryn is a recent graduate of Florida State University, where they received a master’s degree in violin performance with Dr. Benjamin Sung. Additionally, they received an undergraduate degree, also in violin performance, from the University of Alabama, where they studied with Jenny Gregoire. Alexandra’s teaching experience began in 2016, when they joined the University of Alabama Community Music School as a violin instructor, thirteen years after they began at the same school as a tiny violin student. Before moving to California, Alexandra maintained an active career as a frequently contracted performer with various regional orchestras in Alabama, Florida, Mississippi, and elsewhere in the Southeast.
Growing up, Alexandra split their time between their family’s apiary in Alberta, Canada, and their family home in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Aside from playing music, Alexandra is an avid hiker, printmaker, knitter, and aspiring zymologist.
You may see Alexandra at the front desk as well as teaching violin lessons at Villa Musica. They share Villa Musica’s passion and values when it comes to arts education for children and for the greater community.
