Brooks T. Salloum (they/he) recently relocated to San Diego from Cincinnati, Ohio, where they received their Master’s and Bachelor’s degrees in classical double bass performance from the University of Cincinnati’s College-Conservatory of Music, studying with Rachel Calin, and placing in 2021 as the principal bassist of the Philharmonia Orchestra. A believer in the concept that music should be accessible to all, Brooks has taught string instruments since 2019 for nonprofit music programs like MYCincinnati, Girls Rock Cincinnati, Governor’s School for the Arts Kentucky, and recently, the San Diego Youth Symphony. Compassionate, comprehensive, and fun learning is of the utmost importance to Brooks as an educator.

Brooks has performed with various well known musical groups in and around Cincinnati such as; Concert:NOVA, Queen City Cabaret, Wild Carrot American Roots Band, Jennifer Grantham Jazz Quartet, Queen City Opera, La Formula Big Band, the Jeremy Winston Chorale, Elementz Hip-Hop Orchestra, and has also traveled to the Czech Republic to perform with the Prague Summer Nights Festival. As well as the double bass, Brooks plays the guitar, electric bass, ukulele, cello, and keyboard. As a solo artist, Brooks performs acoustic sets of original compositions and arrangements combining double bass with loop pedal, guitar, and voice. Brooks looks forward to setting down roots and building a career through teaching and performing music in sunny San Diego, California.
